As of the end of June, funding for this
effort has been essentially expended,
except for enough to support a small amount
of continued activity in the latter half of the year.
Executive Summary
During June 1999, I continued interactions on possible
Technical Exchange Areas (TXAs) between ALP and CoABS, completed a short
report describing how OBJS Agility prototypes might be used in ALP TIEs,
completed a short description of ALP as an introduction to the program
for CoABS participants, and reviewed the new version of the CoABS Grid
Vision document.
Progress for June 1999
-
I met with CoABS integration contractors
Doyle Weishar (GITI) and Brian Kettler (ISX) in Washington D.C. to discuss
Grid-ALP technology exchange possibilities based on my report describing
proposed ALP-CoABS Technical Exchange Areas (TXAs) - the report is at http://www.objs.com/agility/tech-reports/990430-ALP-CoABS-TXA1-report.html.
A trip report describing the meeting is at http://www.objs.com/agility/tech-reports/990618-ALP-CoABS-meeting-FM.html.
As a result of the above meeting, I sent email to Brian Kettler and Marshall
Brinn (GTE/BBN) regarding some subjects on which Grid and ALP activities
might initially exchange information, specifically the Agent Activity Markup
Language, and component (e.g., ALP cluster and plugin) description languages
for use in matchmaking.
-
I engaged in email discussions with
Craig Thompson on the ALP-CoABS TXAs, and possible use of Agility prototypes
in ALP TIEs. I completed a short report describing how OBJS Agility
prototypes might be used in ALP TIEs. The report is at http://www.objs.com/agility/tech-reports/9907-txa-agility.html.
-
I received version 2 of the CoABS Grid
Vision document from Brian Kettler for review, and sent him comments.
-
I worked on a paper (for inclusion in a book being
edited by Jeff Bradshaw) titled "Characterizing the Agent Grid", coauthored
with Craig Thompson, which describes various grid concepts and issues.
-
I attended the CoABS workshop held
in Northampton, MA, on June 29 - July 1 1999.
End of Project - Status and Results
As of the end of June, funding for
this effort will have been essentially expended, except for enough to support
a little continued activity in the latter half of the year. Reports
and other material produced under this effort are listed in a web-accessible
CoABS-ALP
