Internet Services RFI. IPSIG issued an Internet
Services Request for Information (see the press
release from OMG) in mid-1997 and received three
responses (MITRE, OBJS, Data Access). These responses were analyzed
in meetings #8 and #9 and recommendations
were forwarded to ORBOS and Common Facilities task forces in meetings #9
and #10 to become ORBOS roadmap items. Several RFPs resulted: Internet
Services, Firewalls, Java Reverse Mapping.
-
Compositional Software Architectures. This work item resulted
in a paper Thoughts
on OMA-NG: The Next Generation Object Management Architecture (also
on OMG document server as ormsc/97-09-01.html),
which listed a number of extensions needed in the OMG OMA to scale to the
Internet. The work item, completed in ISIG, moved to ORMSC (see meeting
#13), where there is a green paper effort called the ORMSC Reference Model
Green Paper Also see workshops below.
